Becoming a doctor after BSc Nursing

Becoming a doctor after BSc Nursing?
I have a BSc nursing degree from Canadian University and would like to go to medical school(become a doctor) in USA.Will my credits from my current Bsc degree get transferred in the medical school? How many years of medical school do I have to attend if I already had few subjects of medical school in my nursing degree?

Transfer credits are up to the individual school so you'll have to inquire at the schools that you are considering. A friend, now deceased, was a BSN for a number of years when she applied for medical school and became a DO. She said once that her nursing background saved her a couple of years though she went to the same school for both.

NONE of your nursing credits will transfer into med school (med school never accepts transfer credits from any other career). It is also very likely you will need to take more undergrad classes to fulfill med school requirements (organic chem, bio chem, physics as nursing ones are not high enough caliber, etc) and science classes more than 5 or so years old often have to be repeated. So you are looking at 4 years med school plus any pre-reqs and however many years of residency. Your nursing education is nothing like the med school one. You also need to take the MCAT exam (med school admission exam), first.

You don't file an H1B. You must find an employer in the USA who is willing to hire you and file it for you.

You'll to check the guidelines for nursing credentialing in the US. https://www.ncsbn.org/index.htm Contact and ask them! I'd really suggest you do your program in the US. Also look into programs the Military has. Get your training paid for! http://www.discovernursing.com/jnj-specialtyID_250-dsc-specialty_detail.aspx
2 :
Yes. You can work in US after completion of your course.
3 :
You would have to have your education and experience evaluated by the BON in the state you want to work in.they would decide if you are eligible to write the NCLEX.If you pass it then you would get a license for that state.

It's possible, but there are many hurdles. To start with, there are licensing difficulties . To get a USA 'Green Card" (permanent residency), or evan an H1b work visa. you would need to prove you are not displacing any USA nurse-midwives. That will be difficult to do for several years while the USA is in deep recession. It may be easier to emigrate to Canada, get citizenship in three years, then work in the USA on an easy-to-obtain TN Visa.

Hi Sophie, Entering the US to do a masters degree requires a student visa and then to be employed requires transferring your visa status. Transferring visa status in the US is much more difficult than the UK. It is possible that you will have to return to the UK in order to start the process. Best advice for you is to contact the nearest US Consulate to ask them what is the visa process to study at a graduate level in the US and then to ask what is the process to work in the US after completing your graduate degree in the US.

why not its easy and good I have made a website for students whom want to study in aboad, like canada, america, usa, new zealand, australia and other countries for help them.
