Nursing program in USA?
I was wondering how long will it take me to finish Nursing(associates degree) here in US. because I heard that it will sometimes take too long before a student get in the nursing program and it's just an associates degree. If I want to continue it to B.S.nursing wiil it take me another how many years?I'm currently in my 1st year and still in liberal arts. Please do answer if you only know the answer to mt question. Thank you so much! By the way, is it guaranteed that associates degree will only be for 2yrs? or It may extend to 3 or something years?

To become a nurse in the US, you get an Associates in Nursing. That takes two years. A BS will take you another two years. To answer your second question, nothing is gauranteed. If you look at a course outline for nursing school, it is laid all so that you can take all of the required classes in two years. However, if you fail a class or don't register for enough credit hours, it will take longer.

please go to a technical college for your nursing school instead of a private school I went to a private nursing school and a private massage school and they both had their major errors. technical colleges allow you to keep you class credits and transfer to another college instead of allowing thousands of dollars to go down the drain so don't mess up like I did

The four-year degrees here are called bachelors degrees. There are bachelors of science degrees and bachelors of arts degrees. There are many different nursing degrees you could pursue- here's a site that lists them. http://www.nursingdegreeguide.org/articles/types_of_nurses/ Hope you find it helpful!

I am a Registered Nurse and I went through a community Nursing Program. No you don't have to do asscoiate nursing to get your RN. You can have a diploma from a private school. But I would strongly suggest to go through associate degree. It's only for 2 years and then you get in to RN prgram for 2 more years.

Yes, RNs have an associates degree in nursing. BSN- bachelors. LPN - about a year. NA- about six weeks.

Um... why would you? I know quite a few doctors who had to repeat some studies, but I don't think I've ever met one who became an RN. RN training is so different - I don't think you could work within a year. If I were you, I would get just any job to live on and really cram and work hard for that MD. It will take less time. Good luck.

You can take the RN Board Exam providing that you meet the education criteria.

Even if you have met all of the coursework requirements for an RN program, it is not likely that you will have met the necessary clinical rotation requirements. So before you could take your board exams and go to work as a nurse, you would have to complete those rotations. The clinical rotations that you did in medical school is most likely not going to suffice because the material covered is very different for medical students than it is for nursing students. If you think that you will not be able to pass your USMLE on the first attempt and are looking for a back up plan so that you can have some income while waiting, then I would suggest looking into laboratory work. With an MD you still have a post graduate degree in a life science, so you should be able to find work in a research lab or a clinical lab or even a lab in commercial industry. There are many of these jobs in the US because science has become a booming industry. Also, if you get in with a good pharma or biotech company then you would most likely make a higher salary as an R&D or formulations scientist than you would by being an RN. Good luck in your medical career and good luck with the USMLE.

You could not get licensure as a nurse unless you had completed a nursing program
