do i need to do associates degree( pre-nursing) before doing registered nurse

do i need to do associates degree( pre-nursing) before doing registered nurse?
actually i am in USA and really very confused whether i need to do pre-nursing(associates)before doing registered nurse course .Right now i am doing pre-nursing and i dont want to waste my time doing that?Please help me.

I am a Registered Nurse and I went through a community Nursing Program. No you don't have to do asscoiate nursing to get your RN. You can have a diploma from a private school. But I would strongly suggest to go through associate degree. It's only for 2 years and then you get in to RN prgram for 2 more years.

Yes, RNs have an associates degree in nursing. BSN- bachelors. LPN - about a year. NA- about six weeks.
