I'm a single gal living in the USA, but I'm thinking about moving to Australia... Should I?
I'm a Nursing Student about to recieve my license. I have been studying my ass off, and I think I might want to travel to Australia for some adventure! I might even want to live there and be a travel nurse, who knows! I enjoy adventure, warm climates, the beach, nature, animals, good food and drink, and awesome fun people. I'm hoping to find this in Australia... Please give me some pros and cons so I can make my decision! Thanks! :)

There are limitations on people applying to live here ...the joint is nearly full ! It all gets down to whether or not your profession is on the skills shortage list or if you can obtaina work sponsor. Maybe the first thing to do is check the website & see if nursing is on the list & then to contact hospitals across the country & go from there .. There are usually staff shortages in outback towns ...the pay & conditions are usually better than in the cities & you'll get to experience real Aussie life rather than just another big city. www.immi.gov.au

I think it will be easy to find work as a registered nurse but you may have to go through the process for each state; not too sure. One negative is that things seem to be quite expensive at the moment, especially renting an apartment. All the best and enjoy Australia!

Australia is way safer, no guns (all illegal except for Police), no gangs, no Marijuana and drugs etc. Finish your nursing course and get over here. As for the scenery, it's beautiful, very warm depending where you live. Lots of restaurants, European, Asian and contemporary Australian cuisine - pretty much similar to American food, except not everything's fried! :D On the other hand, you'll need to have some money for rent, buying a car. You'll have to find a job, home (or rent), and you probably don't have family and friends - but it probably doesn't matter because as Oprah said "You (Australians) are so damn friendly!" Normally you stand no chance of getting into Australia on a long-term working visa without at least two, probably four, years of practical experience after qualifying in your chosen trade or profession in your home country. At this stage by far and away would be a working holiday visa. These are available to persons aged from 18-30 and are valid for 12 months. They are designed to let 'young people" come to Australia for an extended holiday and to finance it by short-term working (6 months max any one employer) whilst here. Do not expect to get good career-enhancing employment! This is lightweight stuff just to finance your next move around the country. Steve is full of it there are gangs and drugs here just like everywhere else in the world but having say that as long as you go to the right places and dont do anything stupid you will be fine. I have worked in tourism before so if you want any information on things to do email me catherine_s@live.com Australia can be a dangerous place though nature wish, make sure if you go to a beach you go to one with life guards a lot of tourists get themselves into trouble at beaches, be careful of rips I have been stuck in one before a place called Newcastle is filled with them. As for the wildlife there are many dangerous creatures here don't go up the top of Australia and if you get bitten by a snake, spider, jellyfish etc. go to the hospital even if you feel fine. No one dies from spider bites but trust me you will want the painkillers. Oh and look up a thing called Magpies. Ok thats all the negative stuff but besides that honestly Australia is amazing place and its so diverse what every you desire to do you can whether it be snorkeling the great barrier reef, checking out tropical rain forests, experiencing the desert and uluru. The most touristy place I found is the gold coast you should look it up. Anyway give me an email and I can recommend hotels, attractions, beaches and anything else you want to know
