Visa for working and living in the USA?
I'm
22, just finished at Bristol Uni and want to move to live permanently
in NYC.
If I get a job there will I be able to move their and get a visa to
work?
I have very good qualifications but Im still not sure how hard it is to
be permitted because a lot of people say only people who are planning in
working in areas such as teaching, nursing etc get work visas?

Hi.I
think you should look into this more closely. There are a lot of
American citizens out of work and looking for jobs too.
By rights they should get preference over a foreigner. If the job you
want can not be filled with a american citizen, then hire a foreigner.
Good Luck

It seems like every young person in the U.K.
wants to move to NYC...and many from the U.S. want to move to London.
It is almost impossible to get a work permit in the U.S. The only way
is to have a very badly needed work skill and find an employer to give
you a contract and sponsor your work visa. See 1st site below. You
simply cannot immigrate to the U.S. unless you have an immediate family
member in the U.S. to sponsor you or have a VERY rare job skill the
only other way is to apply Thur the Diversity lottery program. You have
to register for the lottery 2 years in advance...then only 50,000 of
the 10 million or so who apply are chosen for further evaluation...tough
part is, U.K. citizens are not currently eligible to apply thru this
program. See 2nd site. Have you ever spent time in NYC? Do you now it
costs 4 times as much to live there than the average cost of living in
the U.S.? What info is your decision based on...TV and movies? The
truth is, it is nearly impossible for a U.K. citizen to immigrate to the
u.S. European countries are open to you...have you considered one of
those? See 3rd site to read visa requirements for the U.S. I am sure
this is not the news you wanted to hear...but think creatively and use
that great education you just got to find what you should do now.
